¿WHAT IS YOLTEOTL CERTIFICATION?

YOLTEOTL CERTIFICATION  is a recognition which guarantees, through  a certifier committee, the ethnic and/or traditional origin of the handicraft or craft workshop,it's origin, it's traditional basis and the symbolical intentionality of the making. YOLTEOTL  CERTIFICATION arises as a proposal to compensate, commercially, the disloyal competition that has suffered the traditional craft sector  against industrial masive process from other commercial sectors or from other countries.

The Yolteotl craft (products and services) certification system is based on a direct evaluation  of

• Craft product

• Craft process

• Object with original ethnic value

• Unique craft object

• Natural product

• Ecological tourism  in organized communities to achieve this goal.

CERTIFICATION PURPOSES ON YOLTEOTL PROJECT

1. TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT the artistic, symbolic, folk, and historical artisan's patrimony, represented by the handicrafts which identify diverse communities, regions, and ethnic groups, whose characteristic is their capability to transform nature, creating new popular artistic expressions. Perpetuating and developing the cosmovision and plastic of each town.

2.  TO PROMOTE AND TO DEVELOPE by buying and commercializing the handicraft of communities as a recognition of the cultural patrimony of it's inhabitants, respecting their socio-politic composition and their peculiar way of producing handicrafts and cultural products.

3.  TO RESCUE AND TO PRESERVE the own handicraft of each place, also the used technique for elaborations,  attending the quality, representativity, tradition, cultural value, symbolic intentionality  and design.

4.  TO ENCOURAGE AND PROMOTE the new craft production as a way to develope an economic activity, which generates employements. To commercialize that production and promote it through foreign marketing.  

5. TO PROMOTE PROTECTION, REHABILITATION AND RATIONALIZATION of natural resources which are used in craft's elaboration, to manage to make this activity  self supported. Through  dialogue.

6. TO STIMULATE PRODUCTION, quality and design of handicrafts, through efficient commercialization and without intermediaries, with commercial incentives to  remarkable artisans.

7. TO PROPITIATE ALL THE NEEDED TO MAKE CRAFT PRODUCTS CARRY THE AUTHENTICITY ORIGIN CERTIFICATION   AS A CRAFT PRODUCT. (YOLTEOTL CRAFT CERTIFICATION)

	¿HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO CERTIFY? If the artisan, the craft workshop, or pruducer community decides to make a commercialization agreement with YOLTEOTL, Certification will be completely free.
	¿WHY AND WHAT FOR IS A CERTIFICATION? A certification has different benefits towards its members Recognition of the artisan or workshop as cultural producer, in the international scope. Recognition of its production (handicraft)as a cultural patrimony Direct commercialization under origin certification. Products commercialization Quality in handicrfat production (technical advising) Environmental ascending quality (environmental advising) Dialogues on viability Exchange of experiences on materials Enrolement of artisans, according to specialty (directory)

YOLTEOTL, through certification,  guarantees general quality, as far as  the producer (artisan of the product, workshop, craft production process and as far as the product (handicraft)

¿WHO CAN BE CERTIFIED?

YOLTEOTL CERTIFICATION  is open to all artisans or craft workshops, wanting this certification and those who fulfill simple requirements. These requirements are related with the origin, traditional basis, and the handmaking symbolic intentionality.

It is personal and voluntary during a period of 3 years, and it is renewable with easier procedures.

¿WHO CAN'T GET A CERTIFICATION?

All that factory, process, or product whose line of production is, for industrialized origin, manufacturing massive that represents a disloyal competition against the traditional artisan, as far as the volume and production cost.
